Every few years the swine flu comes around. Every few years the media stir up a panic. But is it justified?

Everybody was swine flu frightened
The sense of panic heightened
We thought we'd see the outlook brighten
When the borders were all tightened

The reporters on the beat yelled "panic in the streets"
They were playing it up and the ratings were sweet
Kids would fake a little drool and every district closed the schools
Is it really something bad or just nature's April fools

Everybody was swine flu frightened
The sense of panic heightened
We ran and bought the drugs for fighting
And the drug corp.'s profits brightened

Every network joined the race to broadcast every case
They said here comes the big one, are humans done
We took a breath and looked around, hardly any victims found
There's a lot more every day from the regular flu strain

Everybody was swine flu frightened
The sense of panic heightened
And when another case was sighted
The reporters got so excited
