Different sided dice are designated with a D and then the number of sides - so a die with 6 sides is a D6, for example. There are five shapes (called the Platonic Solids) that work well for dice. One of those shapes is the dodecahedron, with 12 sides.

Each one pentagonal
When you subdivide
